How we handle your data
At HOM-shop.com, your privacy matters. We only collect the data we genuinely need to run our shop properly. Selling your data or sharing it with third parties for commercial purposes? Never. This privacy policy has been in effect since 25/05/2018. You'll always find the most current version on this page.
Webshop Software
Our webshop runs on software by Lightspeed. To keep things running smoothly, certain data you share with us is shared with Lightspeed. They use it solely for technical support — nothing else. Lightspeed secures your data with SSL encryption and a strong password policy. Via cookies, they only collect technical usage data about the software itself — no personal data.
Web Hosting
Our web hosting and email services also run through Lightspeed. They process personal data solely on our behalf and never use it for their own purposes. Lightspeed has implemented appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data and is contractually bound to confidentiality.
Payment Processors
Payments are processed via Mollie and PayPal. These providers receive the data needed to process your payment: name, address and payment details such as your bank account or credit card number. Both processors protect your data appropriately and never store it longer than legally permitted. They may use anonymised data to improve their own services.
Shipping and Logistics
We deliver your order via PostNL. To do that, we share your name, address and city with them. PostNL uses this data exclusively to deliver your parcel — nothing more. If PostNL engages subcontractors, your data may also be shared with those parties.
Why We Process Your Data
Always in your interest
We use your data solely to provide and improve our services. Not for targeted marketing. If we want to contact you at a later stage for something you didn't request, we'll always ask for your permission first. We don't share your data with third parties, except to comply with accounting or other legal obligations.
Automatically collected data
Our website automatically collects technical data such as your IP address, browser and operating system. These are not personal data. We only use them to improve our website.
Tax and criminal investigations
In exceptional cases, HOM-shop.com may be legally required to share data with government authorities in the context of tax or criminal investigations. We will always resist this to the extent the law allows.
Retention periods
We store your data for as long as you're a customer. Want us to stop? Just let us know — we'll delete your customer profile and treat it as a request to be forgotten. Invoice data is retained for as long as legally required, but staff will no longer have access to your profile or documents.
Your Rights
Under Dutch and European privacy law, you have clear rights as a user. Here's what they are and how to exercise them. Copies of your data are sent by default to the email address we have on file. Want them sent elsewhere? We'll ask you to verify your identity. We keep a record of all processed requests. You have the right at any time to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
Right of access
You can always request to see what data we process about you. Send a request to our privacy officer and you'll receive a response within 30 days. If granted, we'll send a full overview to your email address.
Right to rectification
If your data is incorrect, you can always request a correction. We'll respond within 30 days and confirm the change by email.
Right to restriction of processing
You can request that we temporarily restrict the processing of your data. We'll respond within 30 days and confirm by email once your request has been granted.
Right to data portability
You have the right to have your data transferred to another provider. We'll respond within 30 days. Please note: in such cases, we'll likely be unable to continue providing our services to you, as the secure linking of data files can no longer be guaranteed.
Right to object
You can object to the processing of your personal data by or on behalf of HOM-shop.com. We'll stop processing immediately upon receipt of your objection. If your objection is valid, we'll stop processing permanently and provide you with the relevant data. You also have the right not to be subject to automated decision-making or profiling. Think this applies to you? Contact our privacy officer.
Cookies
We use several types of cookies on our website.
Technical cookies
These cookies keep the website working correctly — such as remembering your language preference. They don't process any personal data and remain active until you delete them.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics to track the number of visitors to our site, without sending personal data. Analytics cookies are stored for a maximum of 26 months after your last visit.
Advertising cookies
We use Google Ads for targeted advertising — but only with your consent. You can find more information about these cookies at www.adwords.google.com.
Third-party cookies
If third-party software solutions use cookies, this is mentioned in this privacy policy.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics by Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) to analyse and improve how our website is used. Google processes this data on our behalf and uses it to compile reports and develop additional services. The IP address transmitted by your browser is not combined with other Google data. IP anonymisation is active on this website: Google truncates your IP address within the EU before it is potentially sent to a US server. Processing takes place on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. You can prevent cookies from being stored via your browser settings — but be aware that the website may then not function fully. You can also download the browser plugin at www.google.com to block Google Analytics tracking. For more information on terms of use and data protection, visit www.google.com and www.google.nl.
Google Remarketing and Similar Audiences
We use Google Inc.'s Remarketing and 'Similar Audiences' feature to analyse visitor behaviour and serve relevant ads. Google uses cookies that record website visits and anonymised usage behaviour — without storing personal data. If you visit another website in the Google Display Network afterwards, you may see ads related to what you previously viewed on our site. Processing takes place on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. You can opt out at any time via the plugin at www.google.com or via the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page at www.networkadvertising.org. Further information is available at www.google.com.
Google AdWords Conversion Tracking
We use Google AdWords and Conversion Tracking by Google Inc. to measure which ads lead to purchases or other actions on our website. If you click on a Google ad, a temporary cookie is placed on your device. This cookie contains no personal data and is not used for identification. The information we collect consists solely of aggregated statistics: how many people clicked an ad and then completed an action. We never see exactly who that was. Processing takes place on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. You can block cookies via your browser settings or disable personalised ads via www.google.com. You can also opt out via www.networkadvertising.org. Google's privacy policy can be found at www.google.nl.
Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to update this privacy policy at any time. The most current version is always on this page. If a change affects how we process data we've already collected about you, we'll let you know by email.
